75 Years Ago - Eileen's Diary - August 17, 1937
This entry is the daily post on this blog from the diary of eighteen year old Eileen KINNICK, 75 Years Ago this date.
Since midway through 2010, a weekly update/comments blog entry began to appear on the Dr. Bill Tells Ancestor Stories blog. Those weekly entries, on that blog, on each Tuesday of the week, will continue, with links to these daily entries.
[August 1, 1937, at Ledges]
Here is the short entry for Tuesday, August 17:
Rained. Read "Gone With The Wind." Dad to School Board. Rest to Bk Nite. Crazy show. Greenwaldt $100.
Here is the long entry for Tuesday, August 17:
Should have washed but it rained like the Dickens. The boys & (I) went went (sic) in to town in the morning. Did some shopping & came home. Read "Gone With The Wind." Dad to School Board Meeting. Mom, Buzzy, Leo & I to Bank Nite. "Hotel Haywire." Kinda Crazy. Mr. Greenwaldt got $100. Right home afterwards. Buzzy had to soak his foot. [six lines of shorthand at bottom of page??!?!??]
My comments: Mr. Greenwaldt was one of the lead bankers - one that Buzzy (August Edward) was named after... ;-)
"Hotel Haywire" was a 1937 comedy film starring Leo Carillo.
